The Nerja Green Party are organising a walk along the Chillar River on Sunday June 27th, to observe the state of the river and possible sources of pollution. They meet at 10am at the Plaza la Ermita, Nerja. The idea behind the walk is to raise people’s awareness, have fun and meet new friends. The Green Party hope that by creating cultural spaces and activities of this type a more cohesive Nerja will be created.

The actions taken by the council to control the river with large rocks have left an artificial image and are aesthetically questionable in the Nerja green area. The first phase that is necessary to restore the river to its original beauty is the renaturisation of the river channel from the mouth to the new bridge. This could be done in coordination with biologists to reintroduce suitable flora species which will then encourage the natural fauna to return. 

The Green Party would like to thank the tourists and the town of Nerja. The planting of trees on both banks creates a green corridor with bike and pedestrian lanes - new recreational areas for everyone to enjoy.
