Playa de Benajarafe - a long, unspectacular bathing beach for a relaxed family day

The Playa de Benajarafe stretches about one and half kilometers on the Andalusian Coastline directly between Torre del Mar and Rincon de la Victoria. It is within a fishing village known as Benajarafe which is only about half an hour away east of Malaga. Here, there are quite a few Chiringuito’s where you can have paella, espetos and other fish dishes straight from the grill. You can have salad with fish as well as other amazing delicacies. The facilities and buildings decrease as you move further towards the east. It is a lot more peaceful here and the few houses you will see are individual houses scattered amongst the shrubs and trees.

You will find lots of locals soaking up the sun and relaxing on the long sandy Benajarafe beach. This beach attracts high numbers of bathers with its amazing restaurants, lovely hotels, bars, shops, etc. basically the town which it is located in is small and its major landmark is the 19th century watchtower popularly known as the Fat tower or the Torre Moya.

There is abundance of space and privacy because the broad sand and pebble beach is usually empty even during peak periods. The beach also has football pitches; volleyball courts and children’s play area right on the western section between the clusters of palm trees and patches of grass. The majority of the visitors here during the summer months are families. Note that the slope here is gentle and the water is clean and cool and water sports are not allowed here.
